Collagen is a substance that occurs in the body and can be found in:
Type I and V are most common in the skin, connective tissue including around the joints, ligaments (including knee ligaments), blood vessels and tendons
Type II and X occurs in cartilage, the intervertebral discs, ribs
Type III is also found in the skin, bone marrow and joint fluid between the joints
Happy Older Multi Collagen
Our body consists of approximately 30% collagen. More specific; 70% of the dry matter of our skin and 70% of our bone mass and connective tissues consists of this protein. Collagen is a kind of binder, call it a kind of glue, which holds our body together. There are more than 15 types of collagen, which occur in different places in our body.
The most important collagen types are type I, II, III, V and X.
Type I and V are most common in the (leather) skin, connective tissue including around the joints, blood vessels, ligaments (including knee ligaments) and tendons. Collagen supplements usually contain type I collagen. A supplement with this collagen is often made from beef skin or fish bones.
Type II and X is common in cartilage, intervertebral discs, ribs and windpipe. Cartilage protein consists of 55% collagen type II. A supplement with type II collagen is often made from cartilage from chicken breast bone.
Type III is also found in the skin. It is also present in the joint fluid. A supplement with this collagen is rare, and is made from the skin of cows. This could also be done from cow bones, but is not used for safety reasons due to BSE.
Type V occurs in cartilage, skin, hair and nails. It is found in egg yolk and the membrane of chicken eggs.
You can supplement the various types of collagen through the right diet by eating daily bone broth. This is a soup made by boiling bones from cattle, chickens or fish for 72 hours. It is much easier to use a multi-collagen supplement that contains all of these five types of collagen.
Happy Older is the first in the Netherlands to supply multi-collagen with Type I, II, III, V and X in bags of 600 grams of tasteless powder, which can be used in smoothies, coffee or tea.

What is Peptan®?
That is the trade name of the producer of high-quality hydrolysed collagen.
What is hydrolyzed collagen?
Hydrolyzed collagen has undergone an operation. The collagen is split into very small particles, which means that the various amino acids can be better absorbed into the body. By hydrolyzing it, the collagen is almost completely absorbed.
What are amino acids?
Amino acids are proteins, also called protein, for the most part consist of amino acids. They are the building blocks of our fabrics. The Happy Older multi-collagen contains no less than 19 of the 20 naturally occurring amino acids, namely:
Alanine, Arginine, Astargic Acid, Cystine, Glutamic Acid, Glycine, Histidine *, Hydroxylysine, Hydroxy Proline, Isoleucine *, Leucine *, Lysine *, Methionine *, Phenylalanine *, Proline, Serine, Threonine *, Tyrosine and Valine *
The essential amino acids are marked with a *. These eight essential amino acids cannot be produced by the body itself and must be supplemented by nutrition or supplementation.
From which sources is Happy Older multi collagen made?
Happy Older multi collagen is made from four different sources, namely cows fed from the skin of grass. This could also be done from cow bones, but for safety reasons due to BSE they are not used. The second source is chicken breast bone. The third is made from the chicken egg membrane and the last type of collagen is made from the bones and skin of fish.
How do I use multi-collagen?
The best result is achieved by dissolving a measuring spoon in a cup of coffee or tea on an empty stomach at least 30 minutes before breakfast. The nice thing is that you do not taste this in your tea or coffee. Would you rather use it in a smoothie or in fruit juice? That is of course also possible, but there is a chance that the multi-collagen powder will start to clump in cold liquid. To prevent this, you first have to prepare a scoop with some warm water. Stir to a paste and then add the cold drink. PAY ATTENTION! Do not use with milk products for a good uptake of the collagen. The amino acids from the collagen will otherwise enter a 'competition' to be included. The recording will therefore not proceed optimally.
When do I notice results?
Just like with most supplements, it also applies to collagen that you have to use it for a longer period of time. Collagen is a natural product and needs its time. That time? 6 to 8 weeks. That's why Happy Older multi collagen contains 600 grams, good for more than 8 weeks of use.
How long can I use multi-collagen?
Collagen can be used indefinitely (so for life). It is often possible to switch to a smaller amount after a number of months (3 to 4) use. You can try what it feels like if you reduce the dose. For example a ¾ measuring scoop or maybe even a ½ measuring scoop per day.
Is there a vegetarian version available?
No. Collagen is a protein that is an important component of skin, bones and connective tissue (of animals and people). There are no vegetarian sources of collagen. The collagen used comes from slaughter by-products. Therefore, no animals are specifically slaughtered for the product.
